In 2019, Bo Sheeringa left for Ireland for a year, to live in a cottage near a secluded bay in Ballycroy, County Mayo, amidst extensive peatlands and the mountains of Ballycroy National Park. With joy she photographed the peatlands and the bogs during the seasons and observed and photographed the process of peat extraction in her immediate environment. PEAT tells the story of the importance and the beauty of Irish peatlands and the transience of ancient Irish turf cutting traditions.
