“The dearest ones of time, the strongest friends of the soul: books.”
- Emily Dickinson
Tuesday, February 5th 2019
So it's February and we've a great view of snow-capped Sheffreys from the Bookshop and a lovely chill in the air - seeing as we were all complaining about the unseasonably warm weather...ahem... Love is also in the air (if you're into romance...or romantic fiction perhaps...) and a love we all share here is Book Love, so big congratulations to Mayo-born Sally Rooney on her Costa Novel Award last month, for her second novel, Normal People (our October Book of the Month, by the way - coincidence?).
Back on earth, there's all sorts going on at the book shop this month, not to mention new titles coming into stock and a whole room full of amazing second hand books to explore. Come and see us. We've got the heating on.
Continues every Monday in the Bookshop (8-9.30pm)

Elena Ferrante's quadrilogy of Neapolitan Novels has been mentioned more than once by customers and volunteers and these books have been steadily leaving the shop since early last year. Together with the fact that the first book in the series (pictured) having been recently screened on HBO, we think it's time to give them a mention.
A change from Soviet Russia last month, Ferrante's books take us to 1950s Naples and continue on to the present day. Read more...
