Man Booker Prize 2017 Long List
Mike McCormack in the Running!
It's great to see Louisburgh's very own Mike McCormack long-listed for this highly prestigious prize and it's so well deserved. Short list to be announced on September 13th so we'll be keeping a close eye out and wishing Mike every success.
Solar Bones is a real favourite here at Books@One (our June Book of the Month in fact) and, if you haven't already, it's well worth a read. Click on the above image if you'd like to hear Mike being interviewed when RTE's Ear to the Ground paid us a visit earlier this year.
Mike will be back to see us very soon to take part in the Books@One Festival, along with Elizabeth (EM) Reapy (Red Dirt) on Saturday August 19th at 7.30pm.
And speaking of the Books@One Festival, we're counting down the days 'till the Festival opens on Thursday the 17th August. It's such a great line-up and there's definitely something for everyone.
All workshops for kids/teens are FREE and at just €5 per person for the other events (and a weekend ticket for €15), sure where else would you be going?

BOOK OF THE MONTH
We're really celebrating local writing talent this month.
It's Customers' Choice this time 'round at Books@One and,
a really great pick, we have to agree.
Mayo native, Sally Rooney's Conversations with Friends,
has been praised for its "brilliant, funny and startling dialogue", with her editor at Faber hailing her a
“Salinger for the Snapchat generation.”
It's a fast-paced, witty and intelligent read - not hard to see how Conversations with Friends was the subject of a seven-way publisher bidding war which was won by Faber & Faber.
MAKE A DATE...
Eithne Shortall, Books@One -Saturday 9th September @ 7pm
Eithne Shortall, author of one of our favourite reads this year and July
Book of the month Love in Row 27, will be here next month!
A little bit of a reading, some Q&A and, as always, lots of fun.
If you haven't had a chance to read this book, we'd really recommend it and we've just had another delivery as they're flying out the door
(pun absolutely intended)...
Word of the Month:
Have a great weekend from all here at Books@One!
